Defensive Responses Make Me Question People’s Decision-Making
Part 2 of My Analysis of Nick Cannon’s 4 Babies in 6 Months
Decision-making is a serious task I devote time to accomplish. It is sometimes a challenge for me because I take into consideration the consequences of each option, including how it will affect myself, others, and future outcomes.
I watched the recent The Breakfast Club interview where Charlamagne tha God and DJ Envy very honestly questioned Nick Cannon about his 4 babies in 6 months with 3 women.
What I found very interesting was that Nick was defensive. I do not mean that he was rude, loud, or argumentative. Defensiveness is often miscategorized as combativeness.
A claim should precede a defense. Before Charlamagne and Envy could provide a claim, Nick provided a defensive response to the very first question, regarding his decision to have multiple babies with multiple women in a short period of time. This suggests to me that he is not confident in his decision, and perhaps that his decisions have not been well thought out.
The core of his defense argument aimed to counter Eurocentric ideologies and other societal norms surrounding monogamy. He even provided Biblical context, stating women were viewed as property in Biblical times, and that…
