As I prepare to celebrate Juneteenth in the most respectful way I can think of to honor the freedom of my slaved ancestors, I am reminded of some powerful songs that encourage me to live in my freedom and continue to fight for greater freedom. For your convenience, I hyperlinked the YouTube videos for each song, but I also included the lyrics in hopes that you read the powerful words and allow them to penetrate your brain, reach your soul, and reignite the ancestral power of your DNA. Much love you. Be at peace, in love, and fully free. ~ASUS Butterfly (Drop a song in the comments that you would add to this playlist.)

  1. Freedom — Beyonce ft Kendrick Lamar

Tryna rain, tryna rain on the thunder
Tell the storm I’m new
I’m a walk, come and march on the regular
Painting white flags blue

Lord forgive me, I’ve been running
Running blind in truth
I’ma rain, I’ma rain on this bitter love
Tell the sweet I’m new

I’m telling these tears, go and fall away, fall away
May the last one burn into flames

Freedom
Freedom
I can’t move
Freedom, cut me loose
Singin’, freedom
Freedom
Where are you?
’Cause I need freedom, too
I break chains all by myself
Won’t let my freedom rot in hell
Hey! I’ma keep running
’Cause a winner don’t…
