I Don’t Know What Makes Me Feel My Best

I look forward to the weekly writing prompts to get quick, thought-provoking articles to my readers.

They also make me reflect and give considerate thought to my life. One of this week’s Write Here prompts, What makes you feel your best, did just that.

That particular prompt triggered me because I don’t know what makes me feel my best. Currently, nothing does. I am constantly in a cycle of thoughts about what I want to do with my life, what’s next for me, what I need to get done, and improving my health and lifestyle. I feel my life is peaceful absent reporting to work and dealing with people, but mundane and lacking excitement or enthusiasm.

It triggered me to do more of what makes me feel my best.

But then, I asked myself, “what makes me feel my best?” Having been single for years and under the pressure of work for several years with no vacation or a spa day, I don’t know what makes me feel my best anymore. Add to that over a year of quarantine where I’ve cautiously monitored my activities.

Truthfully, it has been a long time since I felt my best. The first thought that came to me was when I used to lie down at night with my ex-boyfriend to go to sleep. It used to…
