The Most Exciting Category in the 2024 BET Awards Nomination List Is…

Since I’ve been a committed viewer of the BET Awards since its debut in 2001, I am programmed to watch the show on the 20-something of June. As I was walking yesterday, I reminded myself that the show should be coming on soon.
I do not watch TV. I do not have a streaming service or cable; so, I have not seen any advertisements for it. I frequent social media, but not as much in the last couple of weeks due to other priorities, so I thought I may have missed the show.
So, I Googled to find out the show comes on Sunday, June 30th. I next viewed the full nominee and performer lists.
As an older millennial phasing out of new school music, I didn’t know over half of the performers and thought many were repeats from last year. I felt the same when reviewing the nominees list. I felt bad for those in the category with Beyonce, but I also realized she should not be nominated for R&B/Pop with Act II being Country.
I continued to scroll and feel unimpressed until I got to the Young Stars list. This is a great list!
Admittedly, I do not know all of the nominees, but the ones I know are presenting some stiff competition!
