Cowboy Carter is Not a Country Tour
Disclaimer 1: I love Beyonce, her work ethic, 90% of her music, and her ability to sustain a lasting, impactful career in entertainment since her teen years.
Disclaimer 2: I do not believe Beyonce is a witch.
The Cowboy Carter album may be a country album but the tour is not. Beyonce got you all dressed up like you’re going to a rodeo for a concert of country songs.
Instead, you are getting a hodgepodge of songs and routines like any other Beyonce concert.
Yes, every Beyonce concert/tour builds on itself, but I’m seeing recycled routines reapplied to different songs and recycled props and sets.
For example, Blue Ivy’s first solo dance break to “America Has a Problem” is 90% of the routine Beyonce did during the dance battle with Bruno Mars during the 2016 Super Bowl halftime show.
This is not the first time Beyonce has pulled the okey-doke. The song, “Formation,” is about liking her negro’s nose, her baby’s hair, stuntin’, slayin’, riding in an El Camino, and eating Red Lobster. The song is not about the Black Panther movement or justice for Black people. Yet, the video was set in New Orleans to showcase the damage Black people faced from Katrina while she danced in pristine…
