I Got 99 Followers but a Publication Ain’t One
I am grateful for the 99 followers I have gained in just under four months on Medium. I went heavy in July and September, which is when I gained the majority of my followers. I’m grateful for every minute read, clap, and response. I’m even more grateful for the friendships that are developing.
I am grateful for the publications that found me and reached out to not only publish my work but welcomed me into their communities and have been easy to work with.
I am grateful for the one publication that continues to be difficult, with an air of entitlement and difficulty. I can only think that because we share the same ethnicity that you feel entitled to difficulty with vague guidance, challenging/numerous edits, and uncompromising rules for your SLACK.
I have yet to have a good experience with a publication that is geared towards me (a black woman). Besides the one I described above, the others are unresponsive. Am I alone in this?
All I know is this:
If you having life problems,
I feel bad for you, Hon.
I got 99 followers
But a publication ain’t one.
I’m thirsty and could use a boost! Please consider buying me a coffee!
