I joined Medium in June 2021 as a means to make money with my writing skills and thoughts.

While I never took on a 30-day challenge to write daily, I tried to publish something at least once or twice a week.

It was a little challenging to find my niche, but eventually, I began writing about things that mattered to me or bothered me.

I found publications to house my articles and soon grew a pretty massive following. My confidence grew, especially when I was asked to edit two publications I frequently published articles in.

However, the cash didn’t flow.

Eventually, a few articles have amassed a few hundred dollars. I was surprised and extremely grateful. One even became a top article on Google. (I wonder if Beyonce saw it.)

I let the momentum die.

I then realized that I have to have these three essentials in order to write. Here they are.
